Module - 5.

Digital Storytelling

Pod, Vods, Videos and Web 2.0

Activity 1 -
What is a Podcast?
According to Wikipedia..."A podcast (or non-streamed webcast) is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and often downloaded through web syndication. The word usurped webcast in common vernacular, due to rising popularity of the iPod and the innovation of web feeds."

By using an MP3 player or the commonly known Apple iPod you can download many media files in either an audio or digital format. This can be played at your convenience, using headphones, so as not to disturb those around you. Stories, interviews and video presentations are all freely available on a plethora of topics via the world wide web. Great for learning about new subjects or for simple directed tasks, using the Audacity program.

How can I use this media?

This is a fantastic tool that has endless applications for use with Special Needs students. From stories to calming music, to personal instructions to short videos and photographs, this has to be the most versatile and useful tool for my students......(Oh! It's also great fun for me too!!)
