Module - 4

Task 4

Create a blog entry about your learning experiences and reflections in Module 4 or your strategies to deal with copyright issues. Please name this blog post Module 4.

So......What is Flikr?

"Flikr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community."

And..... how would I use it?

This would be a great resource for images that are language based. It is a great tool for me to access pictures for children to use for language building experiences. For example.....for Kindergarten starting school, I could use image of school items like pencils, worksheets, desk, chair, scissors, paste for children to build their vocabulary. We could label each picture and then use words for sentence building. I would take the photos and use images without students. I would only download photos that I would be unable to take myself, for example a goldmine. Of course I would check copyright on any downloaded images.I think that this application has great potential.

Module - 3

Task - 3.

So........What is a Google doc?

"A Google doc. is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, form, and data storage service offered by Google."

And......How would I use a Google doc. with my students?

I would use it with a lot of paperwork that I might want students to work on in class, and then be able to access the documents and work on them one on one, when I can discuss and help students with their work. I could also use it to share some documents with colleagues who may be working together on a project, but may not be at work on the same day.

"A Blog (a contraction of the term"web log") is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order."

And how would I use a blog in the classroom?

As a Special Needs teacher I would use a class blog to read aloud and then my students would be asked to comment on or discuss the topic or blog entry.

Module 1

Task 1:- Write a post on your blog.

Hi, my name is Jenny. I am a Special Education Teacher. My thoughts on Module 1 are that it is challenging my computer skills, and getting me to explore further what I am able to do.

So....What Is Gmail? Gmail is a free, search-based webmail service that combines the best features of traditional email with Google's search technology. I now have a gmail account where I can send and receive emails, and a few more exciting things that I haven't figured out yet!

And....What is iGoogle? iGoogle lets me create my own personalised home page, containing a Google search box and any number of gadgets that I find useful.
